WebRTC video transmission for drones and robots
Secure, low-latency WebRTC live video
What is SVC LIVECAST for Drone/Robot?
What SVC LIVECAST for Drone/Robot is
SVC LIVECAST is a system for sending and receiving live video and audio, built on WebRTC. It comes as SaaS or on-premise, built and delivered in whichever form you want.
Because it uses WebRTC, live video from a remote site travels over the public internet with low latency, high quality and security.
SVC LIVECAST for Drone/Robot builds on SVC LIVECAST: embedding it in an edge device at the far end - a drone, a robot - makes video and voice communication possible between the control centre and that device.
SVC LIVECAST for Drone/Robot can satisfy the requirements of the remote monitoring that Level 4 autonomous vehicles need.
Use Case
Use cases
Designed by Freepik
As a remote monitoring system for robots and the like…
- A Level 4 autonomous vehicle used for transport must have a remote monitoring system fitted, and the video and voice features of this system meet that requirement.
- Because the video travels with low latency, Level 4 autonomous vehicles are covered at low, medium and high speed.
- You can see what is happening at the remote site on video, and talk with the people there both ways.
As a video streaming system for drones…
- Makes filming and live streaming possible where people cannot easily go - a disaster zone, an accident site.
- Dangerous places - a landslide, a height, a disaster area - can be filmed from somewhere safe and far away.
- Inspections such as bridge surveys can be done from the images, from a safe distance.
- The voice feature allows announcements to, and conversation with, anyone stranded in a disaster area.

As the video technology behind remote operation of distant heavy machinery and robots…
- A remote camera can be watched in real time at low latency - 80 msec glass to glass.
- Remote operation is supported up to a travelling speed of roughly 45 km/h.
(Taking speed x latency ≤ 1.0 m as the acceptable limit, that is about 80 msec.)
Advantages of adopt
Advantages of adopting it
Cut the cost of carrying video without giving up picture quality or security!
Being built on WebRTC, the system is used simply by opening a web browser. Without buying special equipment, it can be installed on the hardware you already run.
The link to the remote site needs only a wireless connection - 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi - and general-purpose equipment such as a PC or a Jetson, so live streaming and video sharing need no expensive network infrastructure or hardware.
Strong points of Service
Strong points of the service
A low-latency system for sending and receiving video and audio over WebRTC
A service that makes WebRTC video transmission straightforward
Carries and shares video between two distant sites, securely and with low latency.
A track record of live transmission at latency as low as 80 msec for video and audio
A flat fee, set by the contract term and the number of channels
Sending and previewing live video feels simple
No complicated setup: the network settings feel the same as on any ordinary computer.
The server can be installed on AWS under your own contract, or built on-premise.
Basic Functions
Basic functions
Data encryption
- A WebRTC session is encrypted at all times over Web Socket (AES) and HTTPS, which makes eavesdropping difficult.
- Where personal data is logged to the database, it is encrypted with the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES256).
- Access to stored data is limited, as a rule, to users with administrator rights.
Works on many devices
- SVC LIVECAST is built to run in a browser.
-
It runs seamlessly on the PCs, phones and browsers below.
Windows PC (Chrome, Firefox)

About Customization
About customizing this system
We also take on customization such as adding features to your requirements.
Below are examples of what can be added.
-
More than one video and audio streaming channel from a robot or drone
-
Tuning the video resolution, bitrate and so on
-
An on/off switch for video and audio streaming, for one-way use
We will work to your requirements, so please do get in touch!
We also look at and advise on embedding it in a range of hardware - NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi and others.
Note that customization carries a separate charge.
